  My First Special Pioneer Assignment

  my first special pioneer assignment.- part 1.. in australia, western civilization is a thin strip of land, that hugs the coast.

  all the major cities are on the coast.

  i grew up on the east coast of australia where the great dividing range, as its called, runs parallel to the coast, and limits the extension of cities like sydney and brisbane.

  And I was reared on stories that "Our church don't do that sort of thing" - i.e. only hypocrites like Catholic priests got up to that sort of caper!

  How often do you see the Witnesses out on the ministry?

  i only ask because i hardly ever see them out on the ministry.

  it is a very rare sighting to spot them actively engaged in the house to house ministry.

  or out on the street work, in the marketplace, etc.. the other reason i ask is because they are constantly pictured as being on the preaching work.

  The last time they called at our door was just before last year's memorial. Since then, I have not even seen them anywhere about town. I sure hope armeggedon is not anytime soon:

  - or they would just about have to be charged with wilful negligence!

  my atheist, agnostic and deist family members, why don't we attack this insanity more?

  dr. richard dawkins is finally calling out islam for it's true nature, i hope he is balanced because i don't want him to get killed by these whack jobs.

  i enjoy listening to dr. dawkins debate and would like him to attack their false religion like he lambaste's christians, i guess it's a tight-wire act he must follow or they would kill him.

  And in the case of Afghanistan, these still are vague ideas, as is the very idea of a such a "geo-political unit" as Afghanistan.

  Its central government never has excercised much control over the regions, certainly no more than each local ruler allowed it to have:

  - a situation making the place all but ungovernable.

  Also, when you have such major population groups as the Pashtuns resident on both sides of an imaginary line designated "border" - a line that is crossed by few roads, but many thousands of unpoliced mule tracks - the term "border" comes to mean very little!

  nobody has ever been able to control Afghanistan for any period of time.

  Very true, and this was the case well before the advent of Islam, too:

  - like so many since, the Graeco-Macedonian armies of Alexander the Great (circa 332 BC) conquered the place, but never held it for very long.

  In his arrogance, George W. Bush probably figured he was somehow different. (Or perhaps in his ignorance, he had no knowledge of Afghanistan's long track record of chewing up invaders, and then spitting them out?)

  everytime i hear jw's talking about free will, i either feel the urge to burst in laughter or feel sick.

  each publication keeps talking about how wonderful jokehova is for giving us free will.

  the only small thing is that he'll kill you if you don't do exactly what he says.

  i found the meetings to be especially boring from the late 1980s on.

  before that, we actually tried to make people want to listen.

  the meetings were pretty interesting.

  Why Is Alcoholism Deeply Embeded In JW Culture?

  we get plenty of company men passing through our circuit, often filled with misinformation and lugging around a suitcase of guilt, they bring more guilt to the weak while praising the braggart pioneers and slapping the "righteous over much" elders.

  why are the wrong people getting praise in this distorted community?

  i know for a fact many of the elders i served with have issues with alcoholism, when "brother guilt" brought his emotional hurricane through our circuit, i had the chance to eat and help pay for his "seven shots of tequila", both him and his wife were not immune to over-indulgences.

  I was introduced to alcohol by the brother who "brought me into the truth", as JWs like to say. And oh, boy, did I prove to be a a quick learner!

  Further to never a jw's remarks, the district I grew up had a rather notorious reputation for alcohol abuse. Even if drinking amongst the JWs was "no worse than the population in general", that would still put them well inside the category of heavy boozers.
